Bryson DeChambeau — Break 50 & channel post-production

Fourteen months in post on one of the biggest golf channels on YouTube — including the Break 50 episode with President Trump that hit #1 trending and passed 6.5M views in 48 hours.

Context

AKA Collective produces long-form YouTube content for high-profile athletes and creators. From the start of 2024 until February 2025 I was an assistant editor on the Bryson DeChambeau channel, whose Break 50 format pairs Bryson with a guest in a two-person scramble.

Problem

Long multicam rounds, fast turnarounds, and an audience of millions judging every cut. The Trump episode added stakes: a $10k charity donation per stroke under par meant the running score had to be right every time.

Approach

  • Ingest, multicam sync and proxies so the edit could start the same day.
  • Selects and string-outs per hole so the lead editor never had to hunt.
  • Score tracking and graphics prep; notes turned overnight between review rounds.

Outcome

#1 on YouTube trending for multiple days; 6.5M views in under 48 hours; more viewers than the final round of The Open drew on NBC and Peacock combined. The channel grew into the millions of subscribers over the engagement.
